Welcome to the Institute of Geophysics and Meteorology

The Institute of Geophysics and Meteorology focuses on research fields ranging from applied geophysical exploration to the state of the atmosphere (weather and climate) to the exploration of the solar system and extrasolar planets and moons. The Institute's teaching program includes the Bachelor course 'Geophysics & Meteorology', as well as the consecutive Master's program 'Physics of the Earth and Atmosphere'. More advanced students will be integrated in current research questions treated in the various Research Groups.

PhD guest student Li Fangzhou

Ms. Fangzhou Li is a PhD student from the School of Atmospheric Sciences at the Sun Yatsen University in Ganzhou, China. She joins the atmospheric modelling group for next two years and will be co-supevised by Prof. Dr. Yaping Shao. Her research topic is the simulation of fire using the regional climate model WRF.
