JOYCE Core Facility
JOYCE is based on a long-term successful collaboration between the University of Cologne, the University of Bonn and the Research Centre Jülich. The Jülich Observatory for Cloud Evolution (JOYCE) operates ground-based active and passive remote sensing instruments for cloud and precipitation observations.
Since 2017 JOYCE is transformed into a Core Facility (JOYCE - CF) of the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) for high quality radar and passive microwave observations and a reference center for best practices in data acquisition, storage and distribution. Central goals of JOYCE – CF are:
Centralized access for external users to instruments, operation and observation platforms
Standardized and documented operation procedures for atmospheric research
Easy and open access to database and observations of all instruments
As a Core Facility, JOYCE - CF offers researchers free access to a synergistic set of state of the art measurements for the investigation of cloud and precipitation processes. Joyce - CF welcomes additional installations and supports campaign requests.
