Description/ Content | Exploration of the earth's crust and of the superior mantle with seismic reflection and electromagnetic methods. In the foreground there are practical topics such as crude oil and natural gas exploration, geothermics and geologic tectonic processes like plate tectonics, continental drift, plate margins, subduction zones, volcanism, mantle convection and geodynamic processes. This module imparts basics and physical backgrounds of seismic reflection and electromagnetic methods (Magnetotellurik, Transientelektromagnetik). At that point, the application of these methods on crude oil and geothermic exploration and the solution of geologic tectonic processes in the earth's crust have priority. In the tutorials students will get to know interpretation and modeling procedures of the applied methods. Within the internship students are imparted the interpretation of seismic reflection procedures as well as practical application of electromagnetic methods. | |||
