Content

The module Studium Integrale is supposed to contain content-related offers out of the following areas:

  • Interdisciplinary offers of additional studies, e. g. introduction into fields of law, insemination of basics of business studies, courses of the areas history, philosophy, media and gender studies, natural science and ethic, amongst others
  • Language courses

  • Working field related competencies: Management, presentation, moderation, gender aspects
In the content of Studium Integrale, students choose graded courses (modules or courses) out of the offer of Studium Integrale of the University of Cologne with a total extent of at least 12 credit points.
Modules that overlap significantly with other already chosen or to be chosen modules are not accepted. In case of doubt the examination board should be consulted before the choice of the course or module.
Chosen courses can be accumulated over several semesters.
Up to the complete introduction of Studium Integrale other modules out of other bachelor courses (see positive list) can be chosen that do not refer to Studium Integrale.

Positive and negative list can be modified by the examination board if necessary.

Course assessment, assessment modeWithin this module, a chosen module or a course of Studium Integrale can be compensated by another module or course with the same or higher extent. Otherwise the assessment mode is conform to the assessment mode of chosen modules or courses.
Learning/ qualification targetsBasically Studium Integrale deals with interdisciplinary courses, not with a transfer between neighbored disciplines like traditional subsidiary subjects of natural sciences (such as mathematics, chemistry, biology). Students are supposed to get work related competencies due to inclusion in the offers of other faculties, e. g. in the areas economy, sociology, law, languages or medicine. Even if the extend of Studium integrale is confined to12 credit points courses are supposed to go for occupational qualification and not just to receive punctual insights into a large subject.

Frequency of the offer(see chosen module)
Imparted interdisciplinary competencies and soft skills(see chosen module)
